Security

Guard at McDonald's
Today I was in Oakland and had to kill some time so I set up my computer at a McDonald's. I often go to McDonald's since they have free Wi-Fi. This fast food restaurant was in a rough neighborhood. I went in and was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice place. Everything was clean and I went to the counter and the people working there were exceptionally nice. When I go to other places the people working behind the counter are often grouchy and snap at the customer often. This place was great, everyone was very nice and very friendly.

The girl who took my order had the biggest smile and was very helpful to me. As I looked around I noticed there was a security guard at the door, not the door I came through. The security guard was very nice and helpful to everyone. I talked to him and asked if this was a rough neighborhood. He said most of the people were really friendly in the neighborhood. He worked there only to keep homeless people from just hanging out all day. As I was there I noticed the guard approaching a couple of people and very nicely talking to them about problems he noticed. I was very impressed with him. I have been to one other McDonald's that had a security guard. That restaurant was located next to a high school so the guard was only on duty during school hours to keep the students from just hanging out. I guess the biggest problem for a McDonald's is having people just hang out.
