Halloween a few years ago |
I read an article yesterday that many houses were getting rid of their TVs now. Many people watch shows on the internet or just get Netflicks. Commercials are always the problem with watch television, we can't just watch the show. Right before the big climax the most commercials are on and you have to wait for up to 5 minutes to see the end of the show. I don't watch commercials often any more. I DVR every show I want to watch and then watch it at another time and fast forward through the commercials. I remember when I was assigned to Germany when I was in the Army in the 1980s and after I came back 3 years later I found out I missed a lot of changes in our culture because I didn't see commercials. I had never heard some of the jingles that had come and disappeared in the three years I was in Germany. I started to appreciate commercials after that. Now it is getting a little too much with the number of commercials during a TV show. I wonder what will happen when move people don't even have a TV in their homes, or have their cable turned off and just watch things on the internet.

No one likes to pay for things when they don't have to, but we won't get quality shows unless someone pays for something. Commercials are a necessary evil. We have to find a way to reduce our costs, but I don't know anyone that really needs 150 channels. Most of us watch 10 - 15 channels at the most, it just would be nice if we could decide which ones we get rather than have them bundled with stations we never watch. I don't watch MTV nor the Food Channel. Others watch those but don't watch ABCFamily. I don't know what the future is, but it won't be like it is now. I just hope I don't get old too fast that I loose my tech savy before it is all figured out.
