Kitty Shopping

Today I went to the animal shelter to find out about getting a kitten. I felt sad to see so many animals in the bland rooms. I am not a bleeding heart, but I felt sad to know that those animals didn't have homes. They have volunteers that just go to the shelter to pet the animals and there were a few people going in and out of the rooms just to sit with the animals and play with them. What happens when they have to put some of the animals to sleep? How does that affect the volunteers. I thought about Sarah working there, I think she would enjoy being around the animals, but could she handle it when one of the animals disappears, that wasn't adopted. Some of the kittens were really cute, when I put my hand on the window they would come put their nose on the window, or put their paw on the window. Now I have to decide if I want to adopt one kitten, or just bring a couple home, then when they want the kittens back I trade them in for a couple of more. That might be the best way to do it, I'm not home all the time and that way two can keep each other company. Anyone got any ideas? I wonder if I am writing this to myself!
