Running for FUN!

Driving to SF to run
Last weekend I did my first run of the year. This is March and I have been working on the weekends in January and February so I wasn't able to run on those weekends. I have decided to run one race a month this year. I will be running "interesting" races, not just 5Ks. This year it is about the experience not about the time.
Orange
The first race I have done was a Color Run. There were thousands of people running through colored

Blue
powder! I always get to races early so I can park close to the starting point. This race was sold out so I knew there were going to be many people. I got to the race 90 minutes before it was supposed to start, and it started an hour late. I killed a lot of time looking around and talking to people. The race started in many different heats, I was in the second heat. Different heats were still starting when I finished.
Pink
I thought it was fun to get covered in colors. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I ran the 5K, and walked some. I finished! A year ago I wouldn't have known I could finish. I remember when I was in Jr. High School and a friend of mine and I had to do a 5 mile hike. I thought it was impossible to walk that far, and now I do 3 mile runs on a regular basis.

This whole year I will run fun runs and not worry about the time. This weekend I will run an 8K from downtown San Jose to the entertainment district, Santana Row. It should be fun and there will be about 6,000 people running. I like running on city streets with lots of people.
Post-run party.
The following weekend I will run a 12K, my furthest distance yet. This 12K should be really fun and interesting because the race is over the Golden Gate Bridge, from the far side to San Francisco. I enjoy taking pictures as I run and those pictures should be wonderful!
Hundreds of people were still running as I was driving home.
I think I will take a week break then run a mud run. I asked Sarah to run with me and she said she doesn't like to run and really doesn't like mud. I have tried to find people to run with me. I started running these with Lindsey and have periodically met people I have known in different races. I am not looking for someone to run next to, but someone to talk to before and after the race.
Thousands of people lining up to start

Runners came in all sizes
Covered with color!

This girl wanted to be sure to get colored!
