Sitting in the Salt Lake City Airport!

Today I'm flying to Atlanta for a week long meeting. I started at 6am from San Jose and was supposed to go through Salt Lake City and be here for 40 minutes, just enough time to get from one gate to the next. I got off the first plane and looked at the Departure monitor and it said "On Time", so I hurried the the next gate, a 20 minute "almost" run, and saw it said the flight wasn't leaving for two more hours. I went to the desk to find out what was going on and they said they needed a part to fix the plane and there was a delay. I guess you can't argue about that, better than to get in the air and have the part break! I used to fly often, and from Huntsville, Alabama to Atlanta, Georgia you had to take a plane with propellers. Many time I would just watch out the window hoping the propellers would keep spinning. Those planes were not fun because you went over mountains in a small plane and would get bounced around. One thing that makes me smile about those flights was the flight attendant would give out gum instead of soft drinks. I am not looking forward to this meeting. I don't really want to discuss it much, but just feel like I am wasting my time and don't want to go. The meeting is over on Friday at noon, but they didn't get me a flight out until 7pm, that will get me home at 10pm, and it is a 3 hour time difference. I guess I could complain about many things, but I am very happy to have a job and this meeting only happens once a year. I know I will enjoy being in Atlanta, GA because the people are great there so I will think of the positives. I hope my cats are ok and I triple checked to make sure I didn't lock them in my bedroom this week.

  1. Hi. I've enjoyed reading through your blog from its beginning over the last few weeks. You've had an interesting life. Don't recall how I found the blog the first time.

Just thought I would mention that you may want to consider having someone check on your cats daily when you are way from home. I learned this lesson years ago when I returned from a 3-day weekend away from mine.

They were about 9 years old by then and had never had a problem being left from 2-3 days at a time with their normal water supply and dry cat food supply.

Then one Labor Day weekend we arrived home Monday afternoon and my male cat screeched when my little nephew went to pick him up. I had to rush him to the emergency vet. He screeched because his bladder was so painfully full and they catheterized him immediately for relief.

The vet said the dry food I had fed them for years, Purina Cat Chow, had a high ash content which eventually caused crystal formations in the cat's bladder. Those clogged up his ureter.

So, you never know what may happen. Perhaps you have a neighbor or friend that can stop in daily to make sure they are not in any distress. Maybe someone else that has pets and you can provide similar help to them in exchange.
