I have never used drugs, I have never smoked, and I don't drink very much. Well, the truth is I smoked a joint once in college and it did nothing, when I went away to college my mom sat me down and forced me to smoke a cigarette hoping I would hate it, and in Korea I often drank because I tried to blend in with the culture. I do think I have an addictive personality. When I start doing things I get passionate about I can't stop sometimes. When pinball machines were popular I had to have my daily fix. I would often be late to class because I was playing pinball. I would rather be playing pinball than being with friends.
Aren't those definitions of addictions?I have been addicted to other things. I have been addicted to many things through my life. I have been addicted to chatting on the computer, I still can't watch tv without a laptop on my lap. Another addiction I have is my cell phone. I have been late to important meetings because I forgot my phone and went home to get it. When I go places with my daughter she comments that I am texting more than she is. I don't like to be without my phone or I feel I will be missing something. Even though that isn't true, it just seems more comfortable for me to have my phone.
A few years ago I developed an addiction to taking pictures. I don't enjoy going someplace unless I have a camera and take pictures of it. I often stop while I'm driving to take pictures. I take hundreds of pictures a week so I can share with people I know on line and then I feel they are with me. My first digital camera I had to get rid of because I couldn't close the battery door. The second one I had to get rid of because I dropped it in the ocean. Each time I have to get rid of my camera I go a few days without one and I get much anxiety and can't sleep and I feel like I am going through withdrawals.
My latest camera I have had for many years. I love that camera because it has a fantastic zoom. About 3 years ago the ring around the lens came off. Two weeks ago I started getting a reading that the battery was low, even after I put in new batteries. It turns out the door to the battery compartment was losing tension and it wasn't tight enough any more. So, I started using Velcro to keep it shut. I was bound to keep using that camera. When I was at the football game 2 nights ago I used a ladies DSLR and I realized that I needed to get a new camera that could take great pictures from many places.Today I bought a new camera since I will be doing much driving next week.
I feel like a kid with a new toy. I am very happy with my new camera and I know I will enjoy it for a long time.
