Race Swag

First bobblehead!

Tomorrow, in 12 hours, the race starts. I will take the train and I will be there an hour early so I will leave at 8:15 for the 11:00 race start. Most races I enter cost between $30 - $40. They are all designed to raise money for a charity. The one tomorrow is to raise money for the homeless. Next month I will be in one to raise money for a school district music program. (last year they raised $4500) I have run in races where you don't get any free swag, just a ribbon to say you completed the run, and sometimes not even that.

Usually you get a t-shirt. I have over 20 shirts now. Sometime you get a medal, like the one tomorrow. I have 6 medals now. Tomorrow's race is the second of a set so I will get running gloves with the SF Giants logo, which I am excited about. One race I got a headband and a Frisbee. Everyone wanted me to throw the Frisbee to a kid, and I guess I should have, but I couldn't. This swag just collects dust and I wonder how much I will gather until I figure something to do with it. I guess for Halloween I should go as a marathon runner and wear all my swag.

After the color run.

Well, I guess I better get to sleep so I can get up tomorrow. I have all my clothes laid out tomorrow and a bag packed with water and something to change into so I won't look weird on the train tomorrow morning and when I come back after the race. If you are driving in SF tomorrow morning and afternoon sorry for all the traffic. I will run faster than usual so they can open the streets sooner. The America's Cup is also going on in the same area so you can't blame it all on me!!
