I live in Silicon Valley which is one of the most expensive places to buy a house in America. When I moved into my own home I wanted to buy something and not rent something. Not to make a profit, but because I just think it is easier to live in your own home. A simple 2 bedroom 1 bath house in this area could cost more than $300,000. I needed at least 2 bedrooms so my kids could visit me every other weekend. Instead of moving into an apartment I bought a mobile home. I don't have yard work and I have my own space. I live in a very safe place, mainly because we are tucked away in a corner that no one notices this mobile home park is here. We have million dollar condominiums across the street so if someone wants to steal something they wouldn't come to this side of the street.
I have great neighbors. On one side my neighbor is a single guy in his 50s that is quiet and very helpful to me. On the other side there is an older couple that is always assisting me with chores around the outside and the man always puts my trash out of Wednesdays since I am often on the road. Across from me seems to be a halfway house and the residents are often outside and talking on the phone. A police car is outside sometimes. There is also a retired Marine near me that competes with me in displaying the flag and always stops and says hi when I'm outside. There is a very nice Muslim family near me that is very respectful to everyone and nice to know. I have been here for over 10 years and I have always been proud of where I live.
I like where I live and I think it was a good choice of a place to live. I have been here long enough and soon will be ready to move on. I'm not sure where nor what kind of housing I will live in, but I will never regret living here over the past few years. In fact, I think I have lived here longer than I have ever lived anywhere in my life!!
