Getting ready to run on the 4th |
I ran this morning. First time I dressed for the run, and then it turned out I was the only one dressed for 4th of July. I wore a flag hat. I ran with 700 of my closest friends! I have only run 3 times in the past 2 weeks and even then haven't run 2 miles without walking. Today I couldn't run the whole 3.1 miles without walking. This is the first time in 15 races I had to walk, and I am not happy about it. The second 6 months of my promise to myself to run twice a month. I will do better next time. I don't know if the next time I run will be in Idaho, and extreme 5K with obstacles or in San Francisco at the same time the marathon is going.

First time to run with an audience |
|
This race we ran along the parade route while they were setting up so the audience was coming in to watch the parade! At least the horses came after we finished. We ran around the 1 mile parade route three times. The first lap I had no problems. The second lap I wasn't able to finish unless I walked. The third lap I think I walked more than I ran. The problem if you walk is to maintain the running for long time.

Finished with a time of 34min25 sec |
Even though I walked often I got my normal time of 34 minutes. So I guess walking is as fast as my running! I will keep working on it and hopefully improve. Only 11 more races this year. August will be another difficult month because I will work the first three weekends and I will have to do another back to back weekend. Wish me luck.
After the race I stayed for the parade. It was fun to watch, I haven't watched a parade for a long time. It was kind of funny because the horses came at the front of the parade, and then street sweepers were right behind them.
