Halloween

Today is 11/1/11, last night was Halloween Trick or Treat night. The last night I went trick or treating was when we still lived in Fort Ord, so it must have been when I was in high school. I remember I dressed up as a woman, and I looked pretty good! Another memorable Halloween night was when my oldest daughter was born, she wasn't born on October 31, but that is when her mother went into labor. I always leave the house on Oct. 31 because I don't want to be around when the kids trick or treat. We went to the $2 movies and saw Elvira. She was 9 months pregnant and we were just waiting for the baby to come. In the middle of the movie she almost screamed then said she had felt contractions. We left in the middle of the movie and went home. We ended up going to the hospital 5 times in the next 3 days. The nurse would always check and then tell us to go home and come back when it was closer to the time of delivery. Over the 3 days my sister came over and walked with her around the block. My mom came by to see how things were going. My life was on hold for a while, and her's was moving slowly. We talked about how excited we were, and she talked about how scared she was about the delivery. At one point we were in the hospital gift shop and one lady commented that my wife looked at least six months pregnant. After the delivery I can remember driving home, it was only a 5 min drive from the hospital, and thinking I was happy it was over. Then I realized it had just begun!!
